What the sources say

  • Act No. 270/2025 Coll. (promulgated 5 August 2025; the psilocybin provisions in force from 1 January 2026) amended Act 167/1998 on Addictive Substances (new s.3(3) and s.33l) and the Medicines Act 378/2007 (s.79a). Psilocybin for medical use may be used only in psychiatric hospitals and hospital psychiatric departments directly managed by the Ministry of Health and licensed by it, given by a psychiatrist (or a specialist in medical psychotherapy) who supervises the session, only in justified cases to patients over 18, following the clinical guideline. The indications are set by government regulation. [Zakon c. 270/2025 Sb. (cl. XV, zmena zakona o navykovych latkach; cl. • The Czech Psychiatric Society guideline, citing the government regulation, limits treatment to cases where registered medicines have failed or are not tolerated, in three indications: depression associated with cancer, clinically severe depression with documented failure of prior treatment, and other severe disorders that acutely threaten life where usual treatment fails.
