What follows is the usual shape, drawn from operators' published schedules. Each centre's own timetable is on its website; ask for it before you book.
Licensed psilocybin services (Oregon / Colorado)
- PreparationA required session of roughly two hours with your licensed facilitator, often available over video. Intentions, history, expectations, and what will happen on the day.
- Administration6 to 8 hours at a licensed service centre, with a facilitator present the whole time. State rules set a minimum stay based on dose. You cannot take the product away.
- IntegrationThe facilitator follows up within 72 hours, with an integration session of about two hours offered.
- PracticalitiesPlan 3 to 5 days near the centre: a day or two before to prepare, and a day or two after before travelling. No prescription or diagnosis is required, and no medical referral.
Psilocybin retreat
- Before arrivalIntake questionnaire and medical screening. Reputable operators ask about SSRIs, lithium, cardiac history and family history of psychosis, and decline people accordingly.
- Day 1Arrival, group meeting, intention setting, one-to-one time with facilitators.
- Dosing daysSessions typically run in daylight over 4 to 6 hours, with facilitators present throughout. Doses are often escalated across sessions rather than kept flat.
- Between sessionsGroup integration discussion, bodywork or beach time, and rest. The day after a session is deliberately unstructured.
- Final dayClosing integration session and onward planning.
- AfterAsk specifically what follow-up is included and for how long.
Before you go
- Read the medications guide, and talk to your prescriber early.
- Ask the centre who will be in the room, their training, and how many guests each facilitator looks after.
- Ask what happens if you have a hard time during the session, and who decides whether a doctor is called.
- Abroad, check the law for that place, and plan not to fly the same day you finish.
